POSITION DESCRIPTION

Associates are an important support role within the investment team, assisting other senior members in all aspects of investment circle and portfolio management. Associates are an externally-facing position, which may represent the firm in various occasions.

  • Origination (deal sourcing and screening)
  • Execution support (due diligence and investment analysis)
  • Closing support
  • Portfolio management support
  • Fund operations

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

  • Assist in growing and managing a portfolio of venture investment
  • Develop and maintain insights and knowledge of verticals and consumer trends
  • Contribute to the firm’s organization and operation
  • Contribute to the brand recognition of the firm, maintain relationships with entrepreneur community, advisors and relevant partners

Chief Invesment Officer

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Origination (deal sourcing and screening):

  • Create investment pipelines by attending events, workshops, conferences or using internal databases, web research and proprietary network
  • Lead the initial screening of startup leads
  • Run pre-investment meetings with potential startups, producing meeting summaries.

Execution support (due diligence and investment analysis):

  • Write related investment memos
  • Support Investment Managers in due diligence, business plan review, legal review etc. to assess investment opportunities
  • Lead analysts to conducting comprehensive market research, industry analysis, competitive landscape analysis, financial modelling, return analysis

Deal closing:

  • Support Investment Managers in deal structuring, term sheet drafting, and negotiation
  • Support in documentation of investment agreement
  • Portfolio management support
  • Monitor on-going performance metrics and milestones of existing portfolio companies
  • Prepare for and run monthly investor meetings with portfolio company management
  • When applicable, support senior members of the firm and portfolio management in formulating business strategy, marketing strategy, recruiting, business development, partnership, value-enhancing initiatives, fundraising, exiting etc.

Fund operations:

  • Manage and update internal databases
  • Monitor prospects and deal pipeline on an on-going basis,
  • Support senior members of the firm in fund administration and marketing
  • Represent the VC firm in workshops, events, meetings and conferences etc.
  • Recruit, train and mentor interns and analysts

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • At least 3-4 years of transactional deal experience in venture capital, private equity, or investment banking
  • Relevant and strong academic record from a top tier educational institution
  • MBA preferred

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong financial and analytical skills and proficiency in spreadsheet modelling
  • Excellent work ethic and professional demeanour
  • Strong information gathering and market research skills
  • Commercial acumen and strategic thinking
  • Highly resourceful, organized and detail-oriented
  • Self-starter, pro-active ability to initiate projects and work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships, influence and collaborate
  • Strong interest in working with ambitious entrepreneurs and an ability to foster creativity, communication and synergies between partners and companies
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
  • Technical knowledge in specific sectors is a plus
